Year 12 BTEC trip to Natural History museum and V&A

Today we went to the Natural History Museum to see the Gunter von Hagens' 'Animal Inside Out' show exploring the exhibits for BTEC work. We were looking at the dissected and beautiful anatomies of animals for our upcoming project 'Flesh.' We then went over the road to the V&A  museum as a contrast for the theme, to study the idealised and writhing figurative sculptures. Students created wonderful tonal and linear drawings in a variety of materials, alongside taking detailed photos. This will help them think about different approaches to the project, from a core skills perspective.

GET TOGETHER 2012

As a department we enjoy introducing our new year 12 students to the school with a visual and interactive explosion. As part of induction week we work on a mini project that links to the students holiday homework, that mainly focuses on getting to know your fellow students through the Visual Arts!! As you can see at the final get together on the Friday the students worked on a variety of activities that got the crowd interacting with each other and hopefully introducing them to new friends. Keep watching for more blogs about what we get up to through- out the year…..
